Meowwl makes a very good point. With so many talented out there (and within our very own community), I'm sure we can do something of our own! The world's greatest Kadaj fan (Souba, for all of you out there) draws her own comics! If you didn't already know that, you should definitely PM her to ask her about that. :amused:

As for the actual story, that's not a problem. I mean, just look at the amount of authors that we have! We have our share of crazy stories as well as amazing fanfics and original ideas. I'm sure we can easily do something on our own!

You can tap me as an editor, (I'm a walking, talking spelling dictionary...and type fairly well when I'm not getting feline assistance!) and possible for landscape type environmental designs...though the only graphics type program I have is MS Paint.:toung: I can still sketch or paint landscapes and backgrounds longhand.

I can help out as a script writer as well as an editor. I'd help with concept art but I can't draw very well. The most that I can do is to give you uberly detailed descriptions of how I envision things to be. :laugh:

As for website designer, I recommend Rokit. He's very good at what he does and I'd hire him in a heartbeat. :bigsmile:

On another note, Souba's got a GREAT idea for the story in mind. If you want to help out with this project, kindly PM Souba for a rough outline of the beginning. She ran it through me (not literally!) and I'm totally lovin' it.

IMO, the most important thing that we need to do right now is to coordinate some kind of effort (or at least attempt to) so that everybody can exchange emails easily. PMs work but the inbox gets filled up really fast.

Me, Jerz, and dark Angel have come up with a begining script just to get an idea of where to begin before we get super detailed. What I can tell you is that it will take place After Advent Children, a few months perhaps. We begin Cloud Vinny, and Tifa at seventh heaven where Cloud finds out that someone wants to see him, it is a clone called Zairu here: http://img181.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ziru7lv.jpg then the clone tells Kadaj's story so we will see a series of flasbacks which may involve scenes from the game and movie as well.

We still need a script before we can give the go in the other departments, but I want you to keep this in mind especially if you wish to start working on the site/art now. Talk with those who you are working with and throw ideas around. :amused: Most of all just have fun!

I painted this acrylic on canvas YEARS ago...it's not particularly good, more of a "sofa painting" than serious art...and it's a little damaged but I thought it might be useful as a background. It's a view from a hilltop overlooking a lake inlet. As far as I know, this place exists only in my mind...It wouldn't completely fit my scanner, so I scanned it in parts, then put it back together. This is the small version...the full size is to big a file to post.

Wow that is absolutely awesome! I love the detail and I was just about to suggest something along the lines of Reeve's from the new Dirge of Cerebus game. This will be perfect for the character of Zairu, very good job! ^^ So as I do rewrites on the begining of the script, can you start on Tifa concept designs, Rinku? I'm not good at doing females. Ironic eh since I am one. :toung: Just keep in mind that it takes place a few months after AC... oh and beware your harshest critic Jerz. :push:

Concept artists we need designs for vehicals and buildings in Midgar shouldn't be too hard since you have seen the movie. :wink: Backgrounds will consist of Midagar streets, Zairu small shed in the midgar outskirts, and Seven Heaven for now.



Web design, guys start looking at other webcomics for ideas about how to do the layout fot the manga.

Artists, here are a few concepts from us to keep in mind when you plan the layout of the panels. I think we've established that it will be in traditional black and white, but what type of style are you going to go with maybe Kingdom hearts style, Yugioh, or One Peice!?! :laugh: Just check out your fav manga and decide what style you would like to draw this one in.

Hey DD Crew!

I just wanted to let everyone know that Jer will be absent for a few days since he is switching internet provider and his modem has not arrived yet. I'm sure he'll be so proud of us now!

Second, damn...You people draw so well..makes me wanna go hide somewhere :blush: It's wonderful work that everyone has done so far. I think it's a nice and fun project in which we're involved here. I'm so glad I got to join and meet folks like you! *group hug :push:*

Ok, so now...I'll just update a little bit on the website layout. I started working on the layout for the general website...Now I need to learn about panels. Don't worry, I'll do my homework.:whip: I think I've grapsed the basic about panels. I'll show you what I understood from it...tell me if I'm on the right track ok?

As for the website, here is a template of how it will look like. Daemon suggested that we use a CSM (Content System Manager) so that it will allow us to bring mods to it, easily. What I've done here is simply change the layout out of theme offered by Drupal, the CMS.

Is everyone ok with the color theme? The banner? The buttons? Of course, we don't even know what will be the name so I just put DD for fun. The buttons aren't real..we ain't gonna order spaghete and doughnuts ( - _ - 0)

So please, feedback?

I'm really liking everything like the backrounds Zairu's outfit cloud and vincent design, everything :D you guys are doing a great job.

I have a question though, i'm sure all of you know that not one person draws the same "style" as another. so my question is if there are going to be more the one artists then how are the styles going to stay the same, or is it going to be a mush of everybodies drawings?

Daeya: paneling actually doesn't need a set of rules or guides or anything, all you do is draw a shape relating to the scene of the picture you are drawing in it. sometimes not even that, it can be just squares if you want lol oh and I think the page set up is perfect ;)

and I concur with Daemon, maybe a new thread is in order, as to not push the Kadaj thread into the SHM manga thread ;)

oh and I have an Idea for Fenrir, because you know that some serious damage was probably inflicted on that bike during the Sephiroth fight. here is my idea for Fenrir 1.5 it's pretty much the same it just has a couple of differences

I'm amazed at the progress you guys have been making!

I have a few questions, though... you know, so I could serve you guys better.

I noticed on the sample that Daeya made (way awesome ;D) that it seems as if a forum is in the making. So, my question is, will the forums be established elsewhere, or will it be situated here?

Also, I was wondering if some form of journalism will be implemented into the site. If so, I am volunteering to handle all aspects of it, if possible. Like, let's say site announcements. If not, I'll give content management a try... ;D

Daily Doughnut FF Manga Project

Score I

A knock at the door then it comes crashing in. Loz stands ready while Kadaj enters with a smirk on his face. (scene switches to Vincent entering the door of the Seven heaven)

We see Vincent, Cloud, and Tifa standing together in the bar.

“There is one who refuses to come and be cured.” Vincent says leaning against the door.
Cloud: “Why?”
“I don’t know, but he has asked to see you.” Vincent continued.
Cloud: “Me?”
Vincent nods.
Tifa: “Cloud…” she is concerned, but he gives her a reassuring look.
Cloud: “Did he say why?”
"No" he shakes his head and walks towards Cloud "just that it was about something important concerning the three Sephiroth remnants.”
“Cloud?” Vincent says after a few moments of silence.
“Looks like I don’t have a choice do I?” he says before opening the door.
“Be careful, Cloud.” Tifa is clearly worried her arms wrapped around her.
Cloud stops and looks back out with a small smile before he walks outside.

Stepping around the corner, he stops in front of a cloaked object. Pulling off the heavy cloth, Fenrir, his motorcycle, shines in the sun. Getting on and starting the bike, he slowly makes his way through the city, taking the fastest way he knew out of there.

Cloud heads towards the desert on the outskirts of Midgar. He looks solemn as memories of the SHM attacking him come to mind. Who is this person Cloud wonders, and what does he know about the Sephiroth clones?

Finally he sees a small shed-like building near the cliffs if one didn’t know what to look for then they would easily pass it by. He knocks on the door but it is already open in fact barely hanging on its hinges. Then he enters the dark room and sees the dark silhouette seated in a high back chair.

“I knew you would come.” The figure says.

Cloud: “…”

The figure steps into the light and it is another Sephiroth clone yet distinctly different from the other three.

“This is a heartwarming reunion, isn’t it?” (looks amused)

“Who are you?” Cloud asks clearly shocked and unnerved.

“They call me Zairu, and I know who you are. They told me about you.”

Cloud: “They?”

Zairu: “The other clones, they came by you know. Kadaj told me his story and tried to recruit me to their cause.”

Cloud: “…”

Scene goes to back to the busted door and Kadaj enters. There is a full body pan from his feet up to his face which looks straight at the reader.

Kadaj: Brother, I am sorry to interrupt but I have some important things to talk to you about.

Zairu: what important things? (One of his eyebrows is slightly raised as he says this)

Kadaj: As you know, Mother is ready to begin her journey once again…

Zairu: And what does that have to do with me? (neutral expression)

Kadaj: You are implanted with Mother’s genes like us, so why not help us search for her? You can hear her call, can’t you?

Zairu: I have no interest in her or anybody, (scene goes to Sephiroth at Nibleheim burning), my only interest is in one thing... to live my life in peace. I’m afraid that neither one of you can offer me that.”

Back to the present Zairu looks amused by Cloud’s worried expression.

Zairu: “I told Kadaj no, so there is no need to worry.”

Cloud: “Kadaj, what was he?” says with a frown.

Zairu: “A scar… left behind by Sephiroth’s evil ambitions. But then, who on this planet has not been wounded by Sephiroth?” extends one arm and slightly raises his hand palm up, which causes Cloud to stiffen in his stance. Zairo drops his hand and he softens his expression.

Cloud: “So why…”Cloud begins to ask looking pensive(you know like Johnny Depp ;-P)

Zairu: “Did I call you? You see I have no loyalty to Jenova or anyone else.”

Cloud looks doubtful.

“On that, you will just have to take my word.” Zairo says then turns to the unlit fireplace with his hands behind his back.

Then he turns his head to look back at Cloud. “I just felt that it was important for you to know what my foolish brother told me…”

Zairo’s side profile becomes a younger Kadaj’s and then his story begins.

k it's nice.. now the other panels have something to work on.. it looks more wondeful and have a clean start for the other panels to work on. :D .. rawk on souba.!

it's been days since i seen any progress.. whats delaying it.? hmms. i've got tons and tons of ideas up in my sleeves.. :D.. but im afraid i will forgets it. ahh nvm. so , is that the progress so far?

darkANGEL, you have to realize that we don't spend all of our waking moments working on this project. Many of us have plans of our own while others may have to go into their workplace to put in hours.

Souba and I are fall into the latter category. We have work to attend to. We can't exactly whip out our notebooks and start scribbling in them.

There's also the question of communication. Many of us live in entirely different time zones, making communication very difficult. PMs and emails are exchanged but there's also the time between replies to take into account.

I realize that you're very into the project and so are we. It's just that we simply don't have as much time as we'd like to work on it. If it were possible, we would be spending every spare moment on the project but with our situations the way they are, it simply isn't possible. So please, be patient and try not to rush everybody. It gets very frustating.

Ok well I drafted the first 10 lines of what Souba wrote into an INSANELY CRAPPY draft (>.<;;) so here is a fair warning, after seeing these drafts re-watch advent children so you can get the horrible images out of your brain (^-^) ok here they are (oh and don't mind the crappy sound effects.

Oh Wing, that is a very good job! I love the perspectives of the characters, and the poses. I can really imagine them in AC very much the same way. I'm so glad that the descriptions were enough to help you share the same mental image us writers have in mind. ^^

Dude, what in the bloody world are you talking about? You are doing an awesome job as well! I don't care if this is a draft. You captured the angles very well. Not only that, I'm amazed at how each panel turned out.

No, I'm not saying that just to make you happy. :cheesy: You really did do a great job on this draft. I honestly think that each of these panel represent the first part of the draft that we have so far.

wow thanks, but you have to admit that panel 2 of page 3 vincent looks strange XD but again thanks, oh and I have a couple of questions;
1. Are we going to use screentones?(I assume we are, but I just wanted to make sure)
2. (I again ask my old question that wasn't answered and I think it's important) what about our styles? I'm sure you know that our styles of drawing aren't the same and it isn't easy to change our styles, I'm just asking now so we don't have to worry about it later.

Wingedsephdx makes a very good point.

Everybody has their own style when it comes to drawing. From this particular point of view, do you think it's better for one person to take on the job of doing all the work?

The problem with this idea is that the comic we're thinking of may be too lengthy for any one person to do on their own.

Does anybody have any other ideas?

Wing perhaps you should discuss these questions with your fellow panel artists Rinku726, and Daeya. I'm not sure what style they would like to do and what method they would prefer. :wondering I would hope one that was simple. :wink: So my panel artists any suggestions, and or ideas? Remember guys have fun with this! :amused:

Here's a background sketch of Zairu's place. You can see his shed tucked up in a sheltered spot in some cliffs...the ruins of Midgar are barely visible off to the right. They're close enough that taking a run into the city for supplies isn't hard, yet far enough away that nobody's going to just run across the place by accident. Things are getting startlingly green since the last mako reactors are gone and Aeris' rains, the land is recovering rapidly...and the further away from Midgar, the faster the recovery.

Thank you all very much.:amused: I actually did it originally in color with a little program called art dabbler,(see attatched rough draft.) then inverted it to black and white, since the comic is going to be mostly black and white...right? Now, in order to do these backgrounds, I need descriptions of the locations. I may not have as much time to work on them, but I'll put aside some time for it. Also, what kind of format should I save them in? I can do JPEG, BMP, GIF(sans animation) PNG...I tend to save most things as jpg, because that's what I see the most.

As for the image format...
I would personally prefer .PSD since I worship Photoshop but if not, .PNG or .JPEG would do.
