New member to the forum!

Hello everyone, I'm Maelstrom and a new addition to your community. Here's a little info about me (because if you're going to introduce yourself for the first time might as well make it good). I hail from a little state known as the Keystone State, IE Pennsylvania.

I'm a BIG comicbook fangirl. So I spend most of my time collecting comic books. I have a VERY special affinity and love for the greatest quartet in all of comicdom, IE, the Fantastic Four, which happens to be my biggest collection. So if anyone mentions them beware for crazy fangirl ramblings. Moreso, if they mentioned the Invisible Woman who is my favorite superhero of all time. But I also do happen to be a big Starfire fangirl. *Pokes her avatar.* What can I say, Orange is awesomely hot! (Green too because She-Hulk kicks butt!) Let's just say that I'm a big fan of strong female superheroes! (Those 3 at least).

Aside from comicbooks I also enjoy reading some nice dark fantasies. If anyone has ever read the "Neo-Mage" series aka Thorn St.Croix series by Faith Hunter, it'd be awesome to discuss that world with you. I'm also a gamer and enjoy some good ol' RPGs, my two favorite of which both happen to be a part of the "Tales of" series, Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss. But actions games are also awesome, Devil May Cry and God of War being two that I love. I enjoy writing as well, although I haven't written anything noteworthy in what feels ages.

All in all, I hope to meet you all and just enjoy my time around the forums. :)

Re: New member to the forum!

Why hello there, Maelstrom, and welcome to Daeya.org!

FYI, I like your thoughts on introductions. Not everybody here shares your opinion but those who do usually go beyond what is needed. Not that I'm complaining. Actually, you should look mine up. I realized I never made an intro thread and created one ...oh... about 300 posts ago? haha

This is merely a formality but could you please take a few minutes to read the rules? No, no broken rules. It's just a precaution. That and I would like everybody to be on the same page.

Comic book fangirl, eh? You're in a lot of luck then. One of our members, Souba, has just launched her comic book titled Jackket Knightmare. I've helped her with a few pages here and there and from those, I already thought it was amazing. According to the author, I have yet to see anything.

Ooooh! The Tales of series are amazing. Out of curiosity, have you ever played Tales of Phantasia? It was released on the Super Famicon in Japan but never made it to North America. The only reason I was able to play it was thanks to the SNES emulator. I think it subsequently made its way to the Gameboy Advance though. Great game and I think it surpasses my love of Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy VII. And yes, that's a definite recommendation in case you were wondering.

Anymoo, should you have any questions, whether regarding the front page or the forums, please do not hesitate to send a PM (Private Message) to any member of the staff.

I hope you enjoy your stay here!

Oh and one more thing: How did you find out about us?

Re: New member to the forum!

Thank you, Jerzideva. I'll definitely enjoy my time here! Hopefully, I won't be a lurker as I tend to do at times. Curse you laziness!

But I'll make sure to check out the rules.

And I am. I love comicbooks. Best thing I've discovered in a long time. I've checked out Souba's comicbook and I have to say the main character is looking kinda hot. Reminds me of Nightwing (who I happen to have a thing for but that's a different story). But onwards to more non-fangirlish talk. The premise of it is very interesting especially for a comicbook since the industry loves its fantasy/ sci-fi oriented stories. It's rare that you see a story that deals with a large majority of realism in it. (I'm sure there is more but I usually stick to my Fantastic Four for the most part).

And I couldn't agree more on the "Tales of" comment. Although I've only played those two games, they've made quite an impression the stories are very interesting and grab you into their worlds with little effort. Not to mention that Tales of the Abyss marked the debut of my lovely, favorite VG character, Colonel Jade Curtiss. Which says a lot since I loved Vergil Sparda for a long time, but even he can't compete with Jade's smarmy attitude. As for Tales of Phantasia, I actually have the game for my emulator but I haven't touched it yet. I'm loathe to admit I kinda got sucked into the world of "Pokemon Emerald". I know, extremely geekish, but who among us has not been victim of the joys of Pokemon in some form? Hehe.

As for the final question, I was looking for the Loz ringtone from Advent Children and Daeya was one of the sites that the ever wonderful Google pointed me too.

Thank you for the warm welcome and the helpful advice! And for the response! ^-^

Re: New member to the forum!

Souba has spent a good deal of time on the storyline, tweaking it all over the place. I still remember being a sounding board as she bounced ideas off me. More like she threw concepts at me and, before I could answer, went ahead with them. I was quite intrigued with the general idea of the story already. Then she had to go and ask me for help with a few of the panels. That's when I got hooked on those small samples. Now I just have to wait for my first issue to arrive.

Tales of Phantasia sucked me in right from the start. Well, almost. I thought the beginning to be a tad slow but it builds up nicely. My only beef is that the random battles happen all too often. There were times where I couldn't go more than 3 seconds of travel before being thrown into battle again.

Aah... Good ol' Pokemon! I remember playing the original Red and Green. I think I also picked up the Yellow that featured Pikachu as your starting pokemon. I'm not sure if I tried out any of the subsequent titles until Diamond. Which I should really pick up again. haha Then again, I only just finished Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney so I need a break.

Now you better get posting or I'm not going to give you any help with Tales of Phantasia when you start playing it!
