Final Fantasy: Advent Children Ribbons simply shows that every protagonist in Final Fantasy: Advent Children is wearing a pink ribbon in memory of Aerith.

Are we sure about that? The ribbon that they wear looks more reddish than pink, in my opinion.

Plus:



This is the ribbon that the people of the FFVII wear to protect them against... stuff. Just about the same color as the ribbons the crew wear in Advent Children.

Of course, I may be wrong, but...

she DOES have a point there. The ribbon accessory is, by far, the most useful in the game. Protection against all status ailments(sleep, frog, mini, etc.) Maybe the creators added that as a little hint towards the item itself. You see the ribbon in the trailer where it shows Cloud's both arms as he's standing on his sword. I'm guessing it was a past shot or something seeing as how he normally keeps his left arm, I believe, covered due to the "geo-stigma" virus or something.

Right... the same pic is probably the same one in FFVII-International also.

I mean, at first, I too had thought that maybe it was a ribbon in memory of Aeris, but now that I look at it, the ribbon looks reddish, and a lot like the ribbon accesory from the game.

Is the reason why mentioned by Tetsuya Nomura anywhere? Perhaps in FAQ on the DVD or in any of the special features? Because pink ribbon in memory of Aerith is such a big symbolic reason than for protection. Don't you guys think? But as Jemima's opinion is very probable, if not the reason for the ribbon, I also would tend to justify it that way. Perhaps it's both! Perhaps...

Great point, Jemima! I hadn't thought about it that way. In a way, it does make more sense from a theatrical point of view. The pink ribbons were never really highlighted in a way that really made them important. I would've thought that if they were symbolic of Aeris, they would've played a bit more prominent role, or at least be featured a little more.

i would consider the "in memory of Aeris" thingy seriously...

why?

-- the movie opened with Tifa doing her stuff in 7th heaven, why would she
wear an accessory while working? Midgar was totally monster-free before
the SHM made a ruckus and summoned a whole lot of shadow-creepers! so
for me... if i were in their place, why wear it? Let's not forget that Cloud
has the Geostigma, even if he's wearing that Ribbon, if its purpose is to
prevent it, how come he's inflicted with Geostigma

So maybe wearing that pink Ribbon is their way of showing how they miss
her or something, and i think its more logical...

Zero_Four also has an interesting and probable point. People usually wear ribbons to support foundations, in memory of victims or fight for causes, i.e.: Cancer, Aids...

If we apply it to AC, it wouldn't be such a surprise to think that Nomura would make them wear a pink ribbon in memory of Aerith,
if all of them are wearing the same ribbon and the ribbon seems to take so much importance.

What I mean is that they've focused so much on it; adding to the dolls/figurines, clearly visible on shots, pictures, scenes... I would tend to think that it holds more significance than...protection...no?

well... there 2 possible reasons why i think they would wear those pink ribbons to comemorate Aeris...

~ ribbons will always be one of the strongest symbols of feminity... and since Aeris is of course... a female... a ribbon would be the most appropriate way of showing their grief and mourn for Aeris... if Cloud died, they would have worn a Wolf ring or something like that... just like what Cloud is wearing on his chest...

~ the Ribbon's color is Pink, Red, Fuschia or anything that's red... Aeris' outfit is composed of nothing but colors that belong to Red as well... ain't that reason enough..?

oh sorry i forgot... i also think its useless and futile to wear the "ribbon" accessory for them since the movie started out in peace... maybe not for Barret, Cid and the others but for Cloud and Tifa... hmm...

Even my friends and I picked up on that from viewing screenshots in a magazine. X3 We had a moment of awe, and then remembered our dear friend Aeris in silence.
